I’m in a music video
I was able to help my good friend and amazing musician, Kyle Logan, bring his vision for his music video to life.
A longtime friend and tattoo receiver by me asked me to be a part of his music video.
As the song tells it, the story about how memories of the past are worn proudly like a bloody tattoo.
It was quite the day. I just wanted it to be a success for him so I made sure to clear my day and the entire focus was on the video.
A lot goes into making a music video it turns out, and it definitely took the entire day to figure it out.
After all that work I waited I think a month before I finally got to see the final product but here it is, and I think it came out pretty cool!
Kyle is really one of the best humans I ever got the privilege to know, and I am honored to of been able to help him bring his idea to life. Definitely check out his stuff below:

I started a podcast called Inkterview
I had started a podcast doing longform podcast interviews with other tattoo artists.
Longform podcasts are some of my absolute favorite forms of podcast media to consume. So one day I got the idea to do start a podcast about it.
I got to tell you this is one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. The sheer amount of consideration of everything. And the editing. And just everything.
I hit a wall in burning out like nothing I experienced before.
It was a blessing in disguise, because I got to reflect on how I was going to do it. I had taken too much of a workload on and I really over worked myself. I think too I just was going in too many directions at the same time without doing a solid one thing, then the next thing then the next thing.
Now after spending enough time and making a lot of errors I feel like I ironed out some thing mentally and have a fresh attempt at trying it again. I feel good about starting this again, I look forward to working on my new ideas for it soon.
I did so far get to meet some amazing people, and made some really cool friends doing it. And just that alone is worth pursuing this once again.
I made a Variant Cover Comic
I worked with original comic creator Erik Klauss to make a variant cover for his comic Ninjas & Robots.
I followed this comic I really liked for a while done by a creator, Erik Klauss. I loved the art style and would comment on the posts on Instagram and one day he commented back. Then followed me back, then we started talking and he asked me if I was interested in doing a variant cover for his comic.
Fast forward about a year and we are now homies. I got to meet him and hang out with him at ComiCon 2022. Erik Klauss is a real one, and it’s truly a privilege to be able to get to know such cool people out in the world.
I look forward to the next time we get a chance to see each other.
Met with Andrew Huberman
I got to meet Andrew Huberman at his first ever live speaking event in Portland, OR.
The opportunity came up to go see Andrew Huberman right before he became mega famous.
I had been following his stuff for a while cause I’m a psycho and alls I absorb it self improvement stuff and this shits like crack to me.
I went there originally to try to see if I could meet someone that could help me discover what to do about the pain and tattoos. Most people who told me what they do were Drs and they typically used procedures and stuff beyond my legal means to numb an area.
What I did not expect though is what I learned in attending the speaking session is that experiencing pain is actually a positive benefit. That dopamine will create a sort of balance in the system, and the sheer effect of experiencing pain will actually pay off later afterwards as the body responds to the negative stimulus with positive internal regulation.
So long story short, the pain is actually good for you. And probably one of the best ways to experience pain in a controlled environment in a repeatable, reliable way that’s safe.
Portland was also an amazing city. Despite it having the repuation of being a liberal cesspool and obviously forcing mandatory tattoo school with insane regulations because of all those things the tattoo scene was extremely impressive.
Honestly it’s like the tattoo mecca out there. Everyone has tattoos, you’ll see front desk hotel staff with face tattoos. It’s quite the culture shock. If you can make it tattooing out there you can tattoo anywhere, almost everyone I met with out there was an extremely talented artist.
I was honestly quite blown away with how much talent was there.
Now is that because of the tattoo schools? I think it is just because they’ve created a career pipeline for people that so many people have done it and now it’s created an enormous amount of competition simply by the sheer numbers. The competition is real out there.
The downside is everyone’s a goddamn square about following the rules. I still prefer my blood, sweat and tears path that I carved out for myself in the tattoo biz.
I tattooed Ryan Long on stage in Tampa
I tattooed the comedian Ryan Long on stage during a podcast live show in Tampa, FL.
This was one hell of an experience. First off, most famous person I tattooed so far so that’s cool.
Secondly I really got a chance to go balls out on this one. We partied like it was Fear and Loathing. Hitting every strip club, drinking, drugs, and so much more.
I almost died in one of the strip club bathrooms. I was being an idiot and I ended up forgetting I already took something and took another thing so I put too much in my system at once and it all hit at the same time.
So I ended up in the bathroom stall of the strip club literally just exerting effort into not to dying, like the meme. I knew it was coming too, “this is it, Matt” I thought “Ya really did it this time”. Thankfully I got the constitution of an ox so I pulled through and it was a great time.
I have 2 regrets for the weekend. The first is not talking enough to everyone. For whatever reason, probably cause I kept getting toasted. But I could have made so much more of the situation talking to people and getting a chance to know them and let them know me. if anything it would be good practice. A lesson learned; take every single advantage of an opportunity to talk to people you like and respect especially if you are only gonna get the one chance.
The second is I only brought enough equipment top tattoo Ryan Long. I didn’t expect them to improv bringing more people from the crowd to get tattooed. I was only able to tattoo one other person with my backup needles before I couldn’t do anymore. That I still kick myself to this day. The lesson I learned on this one; be prepared for everyone to want to get some tattoos.
Either way, glad I did it and 10/10 would do it again.
I did a tattoo on stage for a live show podcast
I did a tattoo on stage in LA for The Dick Show podcast. I tattooed this guys next while people were bum rushing the stage.
In 2017 I did a tattoo on stage for a podcast I listened to for the first time.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect, I didn’t think I’d make it this far when I pitched the idea but there I was; tattooing some drunk army vets neck while he was slumped over a char and people were bump rushing the stage and shouting at everyone in all directions.
He was bleeding so much I honestly don’t remember if I did a good job or not. It’s a cool story still, I wasn’t able to get a pic during all the chaos of the show.
I got to meet Dick and Sean for the first time and they both were tall as fuck which was my first impressions. They were both extremely welcoming and just all around really rad dudes. I got to hung out with Asterios before he quit the show, he was one of my favorites on there.
My then girlfriend and now longtime ex got too drunk and passed out on a couch which is now why she’s my ex. I big royal “fuck you” to her for having the magic touch of being able to fuck up any situation with her drinking. Thankfully my brother Nick was there and managed to handle her while I did what I had to do.
It was the first time I saw Nick as an adult. I hadn’t gotten the opportunity to really connect with him before that. Later we would get that opportunity again living together for a few years.
In the later days I got to tattoo more people from the show both people who worked on the show and fans which was really cool. We were staying with my good friend Kasey and his housemates in Anaheim and we had a blast for the remaining days we were down in SoCal.
